On Sunday 6th March, St Idloes Golf Club introduced their new Women's and Men's Club Captain's for the year with the traditional 'drive in'.

Gina Morgan became the Women's Captain for 2022 and Barry Smith the Men's Captain.

In the sports early days the captain of the club was not selected or elected by the club as it is now. Instead the captain would be the champion golfer of the club by winning the club championship. The captain's drive in pays homage to how captain's previously ascended to that role.

The theory behind the captain's drive in is that once he/she has tee'd it up and played their shot and in the absence of any other competitor, he/she is declared the winner of the competition and is delared the new captain.
